Y-Tong (aerated concrete) - quality building material? (sound insulation!)

We have a Ytong house. For us, that is fine because we live in Hinterpupsdorf by the lake. Here, at most, the birds make noises early in the morning, and I like to hear them. The house is also very acoustically transparent – since there are only two of us, that is not a problem for us. For houses in the city, I find this building material unsuitable if they are located on busy streets or other sources of noise. In your place, I would choose Poroton or KS.

I somehow have an aversion to the WDSV and the Ytong seems very pleasant in terms of indoor climate. :-( Therefore, I would basically only want to use KS / WDVS if it were necessary. The dB numbers don't seem to require it. Especially since we only manage 35-39 dB with the windows. I'm going crazy with the damn exterior wall!

You’re driving yourself crazy. Build with Ytong without Styrofoam, and that’s it. The soundproofing will work just fine.

The monolithic construction method also appealed to us particularly back then. My dad has quite often been a victim of woodpeckers. These "love" [WDVS]. That was also a reason against [WDVS]. Nevertheless, I would value more peace in the city more.

[...] The following values were recorded at a distance of about 10 m from the source:

Average: 44 dB (from approx. 7200 seconds of measurements)
Background noise at about 34-37 dB outdoors
MAX: twice briefly 75 dB within two hours
Cars usually about 50-60 dB

Based on the reference values, that looks OK, but the apps only show a trend. It can be 10 dB more or less. My personal opinion about the feeling of living: I find it strange when you are acoustically completely decoupled from the outside world and do not hear any sound from the passing car.

So friends, had a 2.5-hour conversation today with our independent building surveyor, who is accompanying us with 20 visits. Absolutely convincing. We have decided: monolithic Ytong wall construction in 36.5 cm with the ThermStrong PP4; raw density 0.5; U-value 0.26; Lambda: 0.10. She said that is completely sufficient, has 51 dB sound insulation rating and is significantly more massive than the PP2. We are now very satisfied with that.
