Good morning,

I would now like to properly set up the workshop.
For this, I first need a large workbench. I have just under 3m available for it (more like 2.9m because otherwise a double socket is half covered).

I have already found a few manufacturers Kreher, Krüpper, Rau, Stier... but some are quite expensive and of course I have no experience when it comes to quality.

For example, Stier 2500x600x860 row workbench with 2 cabinet bodies 700mm wide then costs a good 1200€.

What do you have in your workshop?

At the moment, an old desk is still in use, but in the medium term I would like to build something myself. It will be custom-made, comparatively inexpensive, and you get a first project right away. There was someone here somewhere who had solved it quite nicely with OSB.

Basically, think a bit beforehand about what you actually want to do in your workshop. I don't need 16 drawers with 80kg load capacity each if I only store tools and materials for woodworking in them. As a "car mechanic" with many keys, they would of course be more suitable – but then probably better in the garage than in the basement, so a tool cart instead of a bench.

Edit: Found it:

Yes, I had already seen the OSB panels bursting. However, I didn’t find it very nice. For me, the garage and workshop are basically one room. Only half separated by a wall. How many drawers I need and in what size, I still have to take a look at.
For me, it’s first about a basic direction. Which manufacturers offer such workbenches and accessories and which ones are qualitatively good for the hobby sector.

I haven’t dealt much with woodworking so far. But of course, that may still come. For me, it’s initially about “standard tools.”
For me, it’s more about power tools, soldering irons, and such. And whatever tools came up from house construction.

I simply took the base cabinets from the old kitchen and placed them in the HAR next to the washing machine; this way, I could easily build the latter in. Old countertop on top (or a painted OSB board) and that's that. I have plenty of drawers and also a larger interior space in the cabinet.

If you don't have an old kitchen: With METOD from Ikea, you can easily create this yourself in the 20 cm grid. Or look on classifieds.

And you can also integrate power outlets into the countertop.

There is a YouTuber named Wranglerstar. Apart from being a cool guy, he also builds a workbench himself. Take a look at it. There, planks are bolted and glued together, then planed and sanded. Much cheaper than buying, and indestructible. The "table legs" for it are available on Amazon.

Alternatively, you can check out the 1-2 do forum from Bosch (green); craftsmen showcase their projects there. A lady built a workbench with kitchen countertops using heavy-duty shelves from Toom as the base.

They also present this French cleat (???), variable wall cladding for modular tool mounting. Hot stuff...

Used kitchens for self-disassembly are also often available on eBay Classifieds for 100-200€. You just need strong arms and a trailer.

Stier is quite OK in quality for hobby use, and with a 15 or sometimes even 20% discount also good in terms of price. But it’s not a Mercedes, that should be clear. I have a few things from them myself, where the highest quality is not so important to me, and as said, with the price -20% - I can’t complain. OSB for the workbench is maybe not so optimal, better a thick hardwood board or plywood, but neither is cheap.
