Phew, I can't really say how long or how many rods. It's from the ground floor to the top floor, 2.50 ceiling height. 1/4 turned, 15 risers. 1.1m balustrade.
I also have metal rods in the railing of the wooden staircase and a round handrail. The staircase is beech wood, white waxed. My "wishes" regarding the railing were at the same price, for the waxing I paid about a 10% surcharge. It is great because it is not as smooth as painted staircases; you actually don't slip.
Money is cheap I would try it with the paint planer from Metabo. The Bosch PRR 250ES is also a great thing around the stairs ...and the best part: Both together cost, converted, not even a new step
