Hello everyone, we would like to install a wood-burning stove in the living room and the preferred model is available in two variants 5 kW with storage stones 7 kW without storage stones Our living room is approximately 42 sqm and the door to the hallway is usually open. The house is from the 70s with new windows but without insulation. Heating is by oil and radiators. Which stove would you recommend? I would prefer a stove with 7 kW and storage stones but unfortunately this is not available for this model

You have the choice between appearance and warmth. Ungedämmt I would choose the 5 kW version. That way you use the wood more efficiently.

What do you mean by that? The appearance is identical for both ovens. Why undamped 5kw?

The kW specifications refer to a period of - please forgive us - 2 hours, that is the standard. The 7kW stove does not have more heating power, it simply has more in the first two hours. Our basic stove with a ton-heavy storage can be fed with 13 kg of wood and nominally has only 3.5kW, while the smaller wood stoves without storage at our children’s place have 6.5 or 7 kW with much less fuel. In return, the storage stays warm for many hours while the other stoves have long since cooled down. The 5kW variant has a different heating curve: at the beginning it emits less heat because it feeds the storage. In return, it gives off heat for longer because the storage stores it.

Oh yes, our 3.5kW stove warms a room with over 300 cubic meters volume for a good 20 hours at 10 degrees outside temperature. The door to the hallway is open.

Appearance = looking at the fire Heating = besides the appearance, actually having a heating benefit Your house is undamped. It makes sense not only to look at the fire but also to get heat. In a passive house or well insulated, the appearance alone would be enough, heat would be pointless
