What I would definitely like is the shower niche. It comes with an additional charge of 300€. My husband wants to leave it at that, I am not so sure yet.

I can not only agree with that but also additionally ask what "tone-on-tone" is supposed to be with non-solid-colored tiles at all?

The grout has a different gloss than the tiles, the same color then looks different and suddenly you don't have matching but only similar brown tones next to each other. And that then looks sh****.
Negotiate a discount and leave the floor as it is. Was your idea ever tested anywhere and found good by you?

Yes, at friends' house. I find it very successful and nice there. You are right, it is all a matter of taste.

Absurd what is being told here. You might be able to withhold 500 to 1,000 EUR, but not the entire amount. If you withheld everything, you would no longer be allowed to use the rooms. Because withholding everything is only possible if the defect excludes usability. I also cannot completely refuse the final payment to a house builder because they plastered the base in the wrong color, but the plaster was applied professionally correctly. With this behavior, the judge in a potential lawsuit stands directly on the tiler's side in the first minute and you have lost.

.....which you obviously (once again) have not really read/understood

....nobody wrote that at all

You are the first one to have that thought at all....

In a school test, that would be graded -6- with the note: "Topic missed"

All that only happens in your head, you torment yourself with horror scenarios that no one even remotely mentioned. Strongly reminds me of the gentleman from de la Mancha.....

We are glad that a partial withholding was recommended by the majority, which you also recommend.
So the word "hanebüchen" slipped out in vain.
