Withdraw from the kitchen purchase contract?

what a damn mess we have here... since we are not getting our house after all due to a stupid formal error, we have to stay in our current apartment. So we no longer need the kitchen ordered from Ikea for the new house.

Question: what can we do? Our kitchen is supposed to be delivered and installed on 5.11. It is already paid for. I understand immediately that we will have to bear the cost for the custom countertop and I’m okay with that. Is there a chance for the rest? IKEA offers a three-month return policy, how does that work if you have already purchased but IKEA has not yet delivered?

First of all, sorry about your house - I can imagine that something like that is really shitty.

But to your question... If the kitchen will only be delivered in a month, you can try to have the order simply canceled. With a bit of luck, that might be possible without major problems. If the countertop is already in production, it’s as you say - the costs will not be refunded to you. I would recommend going to the customer service desk right at the store opening tomorrow morning (or at least as soon as possible) with all documents, receipts, etc. and trying to stop everything. The sooner, the better!
