Hello, I do not want to judge whether it is up-to-date, but we have had wood/aluminum windows in our house for nearly 40 years and are still highly satisfied with them. Many others who built with us had to replace theirs a long time ago; with us, every few years the glazing beads are painted because they fade a bit, and that’s it. The windows are anodized on the outside and maintenance-free. For our new building, we ordered wood/aluminum again; having seen wood/aluminum in direct comparison to plastic windows, the decision was clear, but it is also considerably more expensive. I do not want aluminum only because for us it feels just as cold and uninviting as plastic. The wood on the inside is warm and friendly, the glaze from the factory lasts, according to all experts, at least 15 years before it needs to be repainted.
