I admit that I am a complete layman. However, I know how we imagine it and we have looked at enough examples. At other houses and also at [Fertighausaustellungen]. There we saw good and bad executions and then we presented our wishes to the window manufacturer. Unfortunately, that does not correspond to how we wanted it.

I hope I may join in here ... Are wood-aluminum windows still actually up-to-date for new buildings today, or is it better to choose pure plastic or pure aluminum constructions there?

Hello, I do not want to judge whether it is up-to-date, but we have had wood/aluminum windows in our house for nearly 40 years and are still highly satisfied with them. Many others who built with us had to replace theirs a long time ago; with us, every few years the glazing beads are painted because they fade a bit, and that’s it. The windows are anodized on the outside and maintenance-free. For our new building, we ordered wood/aluminum again; having seen wood/aluminum in direct comparison to plastic windows, the decision was clear, but it is also considerably more expensive. I do not want aluminum only because for us it feels just as cold and uninviting as plastic. The wood on the inside is warm and friendly, the glaze from the factory lasts, according to all experts, at least 15 years before it needs to be repainted.

This is what it looks like for us: nicer, IMHO, but apparently not flawless, since the roller shutter rail rests on the windowsill. Hm?

At the window company, I probably ended up with an amateur dramatics group. As I was correctly informed, there is no seal between the roller shutter guide rail and the windowsill. Yesterday, finally, a fitter came and wanted to take care of it (6 weeks after the windows were installed). In the meantime, the plasterers have done their work, and now the windowsill logically can no longer be moved. Therefore, it was not possible for the fitter to apply the seal. Today, I received the following solution proposal from the technician: "we will apply the seal you mentioned between the aluminum sill side parts and the roller shutter guide rails with sprayable sealant." Does anyone know whether this complies with industry standards or is shoddy workmanship? By the way, I can only strongly advise against this company. Anyone looking for windows should steer well clear of Kronau.

Yesterday, the managing director of a window company (which I actually wanted to choose, if redtatoo hadn't highly recommended Bechtold to me) was on our construction site. The measurements of the window sills are also incorrect, as it turned out. The distance of the drip edge from the rough plaster is not even 2 cm. From the finished plaster, it should be at least 3 to 5 cm. But Mr. Bechtold will surely have an excuse ready for that as well. And the moral of the story: you should not rely on recommendations you get from the internet.
