Why not simply create a guest hotspot with the appropriate conditions? Störerhaftung was overturned in 2017.

Not entirely up to date. But to my knowledge, there were still cases that were judged to be legally borderline. Freifunk is quite a nice thing.

Unfortunately only weakened. If the conditions are unfavorable and things get "down to the wire," I prefer to be completely out of liability. In addition, I also want to expand the Freifunk network in the town (there was an initiative where I donated about 10 Freifunk routers almost for free / partially completely, and in the office we also operate one with good bandwidth and range). If one of the routers has no connection, they mesh quite well nowadays. Maybe someday free Wi-Fi will be available everywhere

I would like to revive the topic once again...

I am looking for a way to mount a Unifi FlexHD outside.

BUT: It is within possible reach of hands AND also in a pedestrian zone (to illuminate the outdoor area of a restaurant) and therefore needs to be secured against theft. Furthermore, the installation cable has to come outside (impossible through the facade) and the transition to the patch cable also needs to be protected against weather influences.

My idea: Install the access point including patch module etc. in an aesthetically pleasing, sturdy plastic box. Has anyone done something like this and possibly has information about such a suitable box?

Hang it high enough so that it cannot be reached directly. This also applies to the cable or metal cable duct.
The access point can be screwed to the bracket.
The box can cause problems with moisture and such. Therefore, sufficient ventilation must be ensured.
Since everything will be surface-mounted, a box is probably the nicest solution.
There is also the AC Mesh Professional. It is quite a large unit, but the bracket is much sturdier and the cable entries are sealed.
Here, a plug could be attached directly to the installation cable.

if the house electrician installs the cable and does not follow the specifications, I have to take what is there ;-)

Above that, however, there is also a canopy (solid stone) projecting so far out that a higher installed cable would be unsightly visible. That's why I can understand the electrician... I will try a box like the one pictured below.
The damage (theft, destruction) would be at most "only" about €200. And there is no social hotspot there

I just have to find out if it looks sufficiently nice (or not too ugly).
230 * 150 * 85mm, I will then install the cable entry myself with a screw connection. I'll report back later.
