Which safety standard have you chosen for windows?

Well, I'll put it this way:

If someone stands opposite your bed at night with a firearm and doesn't speak German, you'll buy it - no matter how expensive (almost...).

The roof has an external rafter insulation, underneath run grids/pipes (3 nested, every flexible tool gets stuck).

Windows etc. were installed by a specialized company, as the requirements for the masonry were already high... I would never retrofit something like that, it was possible during new construction.

Regarding the mushroom head story etc.:

Plastic windows, even with mushroom head fittings, can be surprisingly easily opened if not locked... I couldn't believe it myself, and you hardly see it.

Problem: If the perpetrator gets to a mushroom head, they can slide the entire fitting and thus open it.

Much of it is also just sales strategy / marketing... uncertainty etc.

Our house is very exposed in the countryside... if we had several neighbors, something like this probably wouldn’t be necessary.

Fire department / emergency services have a key

I really don’t like writing this.... windows and doors just as they are standard. Roto handles without locks, you only lose keys. Now in the warmer season, some are always tilted open, we like air. I often forget to lock the doors, she does complain, but that's how it is. Nothing has ever happened. Place of residence northern part of SH, city by the sea, 10,000 inhabitants, residential area, edge of town. Karsten

well, that's just rural idyll... we do have that too, but with a motorway access relatively close by, burglaries are noticeably more frequent here, you can quickly get away via the railway.

Hello!
The window selection is still ahead of me... I hope I can afford a reasonably good standard. I am curious about the prices.

One thing is certain: The bedroom will get an additional grille, as it is a floor-to-ceiling, double-winged element and I want to sleep with the window completely open in the summer.

Otherwise, I imagine being able to compensate some mechanical protection with electronic protection... the point for me is not to be surprised while sleeping, but still to have the possibility to escape or call the police.

Take as much mechanical protection as you can afford. The more, the longer the break-in takes. The likelihood that it will get louder and you will wake up increases.

Hey! We will get windows from Bayerwald. The description says RC1 fittings, but they have a safe hinge tested to RC2... What should I check now?
