Which heating system should one choose for a new building?

Hello, I am currently planning a house, a brief introduction about us: we are building in Lower Bavaria. We don't want a basement and the house should have about 220 sqm of living space in total. I am a part-time farmer and we have 29 kW photovoltaic on our hall that runs to my parents' house. In the living area, we want either a tiled stove or a Swedish stove anyway since we have our own wood. A wood chip heating system is out of the question. What would you install at the moment? I saw a stove from SHT that works with pellets and firewood. The advantage would be that a tiled stove or Swedish stove would be unnecessary... I am not quite sure at the moment.... I would be very grateful for your tips.... Best regards

To what extent are you technically interested? Do you have enough land at the house? And do you have access to an excavator?

Hello Peter,

the question cannot be answered in general terms, otherwise there would be (at least) only one heating system nationwide - namely THE best. ;)
.

[*]Do you have a gas connection?
    [*]Are deep drillings possible/allowed?
[*]Should it be the most economical heating system or is value placed on autonomy and/or environmental protection?

[*]According to which energy standard should it be built (Energy Saving Ordinance 2016, KFW 55, Passive House)?

If wood is available, it certainly makes sense to cover at least part of the required heating energy with wood.

The most common main heating systems in new buildings today are:

[*]Gas condensing boiler (usually with solar thermal system)

    [*]Air-water heat pump
    [*]Brine-water heat pump

[*]Wood heating (pellets, wood chips and/or firewood)

These systems can then be supported with a (water-guided) tiled stove or Swedish stove.

We are always interested in technology. The land is big enough, I estimate about 1500 sqm, and I have a wheeled excavator myself. Best regards

That basically sounds interesting for a trench collector. It is a system for a brine heat pump. Instead of a borehole, a trench about 1.8 meters deep (varies) and 2 meters wide is dug. Afterwards, plastic pipes are laid in loops there and then backfilled.

Of course, all of this must be planned. The underfloor heating should also be designed for this.

The trench collector is still little known in Germany. Rather widespread in Austria. This means that in Germany you would rather rely on your own work, which is well possible given your circumstances.

I myself helped with the digging for a friend. With 3-4 people it is quite possible over a weekend.

Just google it. There is a good platform on the internet where you can get help.

These would be good conditions for a ground source heat pump with a surface/trench collector. Especially if you can do the work yourself, you come out ahead thanks to the subsidy (BAFA 4000€). But a heat pump does not fit with a fireplace with heating support (the latter in my opinion fits nothing except the seller’s wallet and the user’s sentimentality).
