Actually, the topic has pretty much been exhausted in the discussion. But for the sake of clarity once again -> Collectors are used for heat generation and as already mentioned, today they are slapped on almost every new building to secure the share of renewable energy and also to achieve KFW 55 with a gas boiler. In most cases, in my opinion, however, rather inefficient, but for many in the combination, simply a must (also because most probably do not offer alternatives, which do exist...) -> In photovoltaics, we speak of modules, which, unlike the previous variant, generate electricity. Here you have a high initial investment, but if you have dealt with the topic and don’t buy the Golf at Porsche price, the whole thing not only pays off within a foreseeable time, but depending on the orientation also strongly moves into the green area and I don’t expect more from such a system, because to earn my living I go to work every morning And yes, then it is probably the knee wall meant. On that, I’m probably not 100% clear on the term. But that doesn’t matter as long as the craftsmen do their trade correctly

....and then everything turned out completely different after all.

I had said at the beginning that the seller’s assessment was that the brick slip facade would cost about the same with identical living space in the house. Today, facts have been established, astonishing facts.

For background, Röben brand facing bricks in NF, 650 pcs./1000 bricks, were included in the general contractor’s offer.
The surcharge from the plastered house to the facing brick in this context would have amounted to about 8,000 euros for us. However, since we chose the Amrum Antik facing brick from Vandersanden in WDF, it ended up being somewhat more expensive – our house would then have cost around 11,000 euros, so 3,000 euros more for the facing brick, more bricks, more work, etc.
In competition with that were the brick slips cut from the same stone, to which one could at least attribute a certain space gain, though not much more.
When I just saw the offer, I nearly lost faith, because the brick slips are another 15,000 euros more expensive than a simple facing brick! This is due to the extra work involved and because it is allegedly more complex to ceremoniously install a straight wall with brick slips vertically than to face a house...

As I said, it’s not logical, but certainly interesting, and that made the decision very easy for us. Since my heart had already been set on a properly faced facade anyway, the result is exactly right.

As said: thin brick slips go on the facade, full clinker bricks are stacked. Yes, that does make a difference because with the slips you need to have (or create) a smooth substrate. Therefore, one is more of a retrofit option, and the other more of a new construction variant. The labor cost weighs more than the "price per kilo" of the brick.

WDF is also intricate due to the deviation of the format from the planning grid.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to start such a big discussion. I also didn’t want to complain about not everyone being mentioned. I found this thread very interesting and, as a layperson in the field, I just wanted to know the alternatives.
