No, we really didn’t and still don’t use any external help here. The only one who helped a bit was my sister-in-law’s carpenter friend. And he was properly paid for it, so that doesn’t really count. I would ask others, but unfortunately I have the syndrome of getting really angry every time about the work I didn’t do myself. The windows and doors are installed crookedly, something sticks out somewhere or isn’t properly laid... that happens here and there to me too, but I didn’t learn the work and am not paid for it. One time my father-in-law wanted to help and chisel out the screed... so he came, put the lever on 2-3 times. The rest was done by my husband. I then had to carry the rubble pile of 1.3 tons myself, 66 steps up to the container. Quote from father-in-law at the end of the first workday: “That pile will be gone by tomorrow, girl.” I even managed that. And on the second day he came and drank one beer after another while we worked. That’s when I somehow lost the desire, especially since beforehand he always got furious when he saw me carrying beverage crates (“the motherbands!!”) and then praised himself at some family dinner because he had done SUCH hard work chiseling the screed. That still makes me have violent fantasies today.
