We have variant 2 from Schiedel and are satisfied with it

Hi,

I consider option 1 to be an absurd effort.
For us, the choice was between option 2 ([Schiedel Absolut]) and option 3 ([Erlus SL]). According to the chimney sweep, they are basically about the same, although the representative from [Schiedel] of course told me that [Schiedel] is much better than others. He has to say that. The advantage of [Schiedel] is supposed to be really better insulation, and pay attention to which one integrates better into the house. The [Schiedel] have a rectangular cross-section while the [Erlus] are square. That means the [Schiedel] are wider but "less thick". Since the chimney is in a partition wall in our case, that fit much better.

The general contractor left the choice to us, so there shouldn’t be a big cost difference.

Best regards,

Andreas

Why? Just have a KG pipe additionally laid under the slab. Where is the effort if all sorts of pipes are being laid at the same time anyway? A significantly lower price was then decisive.

We also have variant 2, the Schiedel, but you have already made your decision anyway

... Even though in my opinion your argument is somewhat flawed: there are things that are not a big deal, this also applies to the garden, which you can still design according to your preferences. Then it will just be a mushroom - your beautiful roof will be adorned with something even less attractive, namely the chimney

The extra cost for the chimney would be around 200-300€ for us. The pipe leading outside is between 50-100€. However, the pipe still needs some kind of cap/cladding, and the attractive versions reportedly cost several hundred euros.

Against option 1, but not for 2 or 3.

Well, the mushroom is not just anywhere. As I understand it, you cannot lay the pipe through half the garden, but best on the shortest path from the chimney to outside. If that’s the case, we don’t want it standing in the corner.
