At Schiedel, as far as I know, the flue pipes are inserted fittingly into the mantle stone. With other manufacturers, they are held in position by metal arms.

We and everyone who is building new in our area with a civil engineer or on their own have Variante 2 (Schiedel).

Everyone with a house construction company/GC has Variante 1.

I would also rule out option 1, partly because of the appearance (who knows before construction begins where which bush will later be) and not least because of any pranksters who might tamper with it on [Hexennacht].

Hi,

At our ground-level design water level = turf, I’m not going to drill any holes in the basement wall... Then you need a Doyma seal plus a sleeve pipe, install all that, and there is no light/air shaft anywhere around. And you probably have to get it approved individually by the chimney sweep if you want an air-independent stove.

But I admit that I didn’t question the offer for the chimney at all. They proposed a Schiedel/Erlus chimney and that’s it. My general contractor probably wouldn’t install anything else.

Best regards,

Andreas
