Which Cat cables should be installed on the facade? Problems with moisture?

At that point, I was more focused on the emphasis on "underground cable". Ultimately, the extra cost for CAT6/7 is negligible as well, so you should directly invest in the future here? :)

No

Yes :)
In my view, the idea of laying the cables outside is at least by far the better one.

Ok

100m CAT5 underground cable costs about 55 euros
100m CAT7 underground cable costs about 80 euros

Then it will probably be CAT7. Only fiber optics are missing for the future :)
But who knows how the future will turn out ...?

Ok
The only question then is whether the effort is really worth it. However, for outdoor installation now, it would be the only option.

I told you so ;)

The 25 EUR extra is a bargain as "future proofing". A single glance into the crystal ball would cost you more :)

Ok

Long term, definitely. Otherwise, you will regret it.
Also, the effort in the measure will then be more manageable than potentially having to retrofit later.

If the effort should be kept very low, one could possibly think about outdoor mounted access points?
Or at least pull 1-2 cables from each side of the house additionally and install POE-powered access points internally.

At the current time I would 1. buy 100 meters of (earth) cable 2. drill a sufficiently large hole for four or five CAT cables from the living room to the outside 3. make corresponding grooves in the facade 4. drill holes for a CAT cable in the respective spots/rooms 5. install a switch in the living room 6. install sockets with 2x RJ45 in the respective rooms How should the holes be closed again (aerated concrete)? Simply fill them with foam? :) Now thinking long term and if fiber optic cable actually comes to the house within my lifetime. How would that proceed then? As far as I know, I was at least kindly provided with a conduit from the street to the house when the gas connection was installed. Would CAT8 be over the top? After all, we currently only have 60 MBit :D

In which room is your house connection or the entrance of the Telekom cable?
Don’t you want to do the distribution directly from there instead of from the living room?

If fiber optic or something similar actually comes later, you would be able to distribute everything directly from that connection point and wouldn’t need switches etc. in the living room!?

When it comes to sealing the holes, others can probably help you better. From my point of view, expanding foam (there are different types) and additional tape (special sealing tape) should do the job.

I think CAT7 should be completely sufficient. However, the same was said about PCs with 4MB RAM thirty years ago ;)

The house connection is in the basement. From there, you could also go directly outside. However, the router is in the living room.

In thirty years, I certainly won’t care much about internet technology.
Because then I’ll be more glad if I can still go to the toilet by myself and participate in life with a reasonably clear mind...
