What window sizes - widths are normally installed?

We are currently in the process of creating the floor plans....and somehow the windows are not quite right :-(

We are unfortunately totally uncertain / undecided about the window heights - widths on the upper floor (children's room/bedroom..)
....The architect's floor plan, for example, has approximately +/- 2.385 x 1.27

Now we are wavering whether to take that or to choose a smaller height, for example 1.10 or 1.00 or something like that???
With acquaintances, windows with a height of 1.00 already looked sufficient....mmhmmm

Why or for what reason did you decide on this or that window size?

Of course, it always depends on the individual floor plan / preferences... but the experience of the planners and the people already living there could be very helpful

Naturally, the draft will also be subject to teasing and shaking of heads in the forum )

So many thanks and now it's time to cool off with the kids for a while

Hello,

I don't quite understand the height, do you mean whether it should be floor-to-ceiling or normally double-leaf?

You don't make a window 1m high and 1.27m wide, how is that supposed to look? Our construction company advised us against making a single-leaf window wider than 1.20m, it could eventually come off its hinges. In the children's rooms, we each have two windows, a floor-to-ceiling (as high as possible) window with a width of 1.76m and a 1.40m high window with a width of 1m. The windows make the rooms nice and bright, I would plan it that way again. Under no circumstances would I plan just a small window, that would be far too dark.

Best regards
Sabine

Windows provide light and a view. For light, the ratio between window area and room area is important. They also represent cooling surfaces, which is why they are often made smaller on the north side.

The higher the "Wall" between the top edge of the window and the ceiling, the less light reaches the ceiling, can be reflected by it, and contribute to the feeling of illumination.

A view can only be enjoyed through panes, not through frames (and not through parapets). In this sense, the window frame can also become a "board in front of the head."

And: windows shape facades - in scale, in proportion, etc. - a mishmash of formats can quickly appear without concept.

We don't want to gossip but to help and warn against inadvertent mistakes or to raise awareness.
In this respect, your question about the windows would be exactly the right moment to also let the rest discuss so that the windows thus match the house.

...maybe poorly written...

Example: Window length = 2.385 x height = 1.27

In other words, we are not sure if the height of the window of 1.27 is too large and are considering changing it to a height of, for example, 2.385 x ±1.00

...hope this is clearer.
