We once lived in an apartment on the third floor with a balcony and a panoramic window in the bedroom. You could look directly into the treetops (with a long arm, you could even reach them from the balcony). It was a great spectacle with the squirrels. We definitely miss that. You experience it less in a single-family house; at ground level, you only look at the trunk and not from above into the crown.

I don't see the problem: so far I have always tried to design a garden corner in the garden in such a way that animals feel comfortable there. I always hope for hedgehogs, and for that purpose there is leaves in the undergrowth, ground cover plants, construction remnants -> stone pipes and other piled stones so that animals can hibernate there.
My husband has a birdbath as well as houses and is happy when the birds use them. Nest building also takes place in our garden.

Somehow I see our garden layout as a mandatory program for nature, and it's a pity that not everyone has this awareness.
