What does the color "sto 16024, HB 81, C1" mean? Correction of wrong decision.

One more question:
Is it correct that colors appear darker on larger surfaces than on lighter surfaces?

I have now decided on the color sto 16009, which seems to have the highest light reference value of 86 in the color group "yellow". It seems that there is no lighter yellow from sto if I have not overlooked it.

Will the HB value 81 compared to 86 be perceptible to the human eye when standing in front of the facade? Thank you. :)

Let me tell you that colors can only theoretically be defined by numbers.

- Everyone has a different perception
- A color looks different on every surface
- Colors look different under every lighting condition.
- Contrasts strengthen or weaken effects.

This has already led to some funny stuff in our new housing development. One has a hue that actually leans towards a very light brownish tone. When it's cloudy, it looks like it has a purple tint.

Another had a bay window painted in a brown tone. A rather strong shade between beige and brown, the rest of the facade in the same color range three steps lighter, so a lighter shade from the same scheme. I can tell you, in most weather conditions you would say the house is white. But put something white next to it and you'll be surprised how big the difference is.

I repeat my tip. Have three samples made and hold them up on different sides on site under different lighting conditions. And yes, on a larger surface it can still look different. Or have three samples painted on the wall in one place once it's plastered.

Edit: Can you tell the difference between 81 and 86? No idea. But 81 and 86 are already very very light tones.

I would say it is "vanilla" similar to what is called "chamois" in the paper trade, so far from "lemon sorbet". I would clearly assign both 16024 and 16009 to the sand color spectrum, and not to the yellow color spectrum.

I have now received photos from our sample provider that exactly correspond to what we believe we have chosen and what we desire. Attached are three photos. On site, we were able to see larger plaster samples and are sure that we will like this color on our house. :) A bright, friendly color, in my opinion. Not so nice when shadows fall on it, but we would have to live with that with any color.

Just out of interest. Is it the standard yellow? I am very interested in your opinion on this. There are at least 3 other yellow houses on our street, so we can compare them once. :)

So… in my job, I work with gray wedges or gray cards in a photo when it comes to color. My screen, phone, iPad, PC, or Mac spit out different colors. To trained eyes, laypeople don’t have to see the difference.

But if there should only be three shades of yellow, then I probably know two in the facade area: a dull one and a bright one. Yours would be the more pleasant yellow in my eyes, rather tending towards cream, and the standard yellow that I know.

Here are your photos, if I remove the color cast ;)

A bit friendlier already, isn’t it?
