As wrote, forget "breathing walls" – they do not exist. Ventilated facades are the standard solution but also (significantly) more expensive. The openings are usually closed with insect screens. The facade can also be additionally insulated. For cost reasons, this construction method is rarely used for single-family houses.
That's why I put the diffusion-open facade in quotation marks, I thought so already.
How about durability/weather protection? It should help somewhat with moisture that air can circulate there, and also for heat protection (as far as that even plays a role in walls) the air layer should be beneficial, right?
There are also small insects, or something against bees/wasps/etc., and sealing out rodents is extremely difficult to impossible. Is that a known problem with these facades or should we not worry about it?
So basically there are no major advantages for us with this facade? Since we are plastering, the design flexibility is not a big argument, at least not right now. When we talk about significantly more expensive, are we talking about €5,000, €10,000, or €20,000 for a single-family house of about 140 sqm?
