What do you think of carpets? Completely out of style?

There are indeed very significant advantages of a textile floor covering compared to a hard floor covering. The most important ones are listed below again:

1. Noise Reducing Effect
Scientific studies prove that noise pollution in buildings has a significant impact on human well-being. In addition to preventing impact sounds, carpets offer very good sound-absorbing properties, which ensure that strong noise pollution, as found with hard floor coverings, does not occur in the first place. The optimal sound absorption of carpets is particularly noticeable in places where many people gather. If a carpet is included in the planning from the beginning, savings on room acoustic measures are possible.

2. Dust-Binding Properties
Thanks to its dust-binding properties, carpet flooring is about 50% more hygienic than a hard floor covering. Since dust particles also bind germs and other components present in the indoor air, carpet flooring, with regular and proper maintenance from the start, helps to reduce the risk potential.

3. Energy Savings
Not only do carpets visually convey an impression of warmth, comfort, and coziness, but they also demonstrably help to retain heat in a room longer. For human thermal comfort, foot warmth is primarily decisive, which — unlike hard floors — can be easily achieved with carpets even without underfloor heating and without increasing the room air temperature.
Also, a carpet — unlike hard floors — can provide good insulation against cold, e.g., from unheated basement rooms.

4. Easy Maintenance
Optimal care from the outset is the prerequisite for good appearance and a long lifespan of the carpet. From this perspective and with the use of appropriate cleaning devices and methods, dirt can be removed from a carpet much more easily than from some coated hard floor coverings. Depending on the level of use, a maintenance plan can be developed here to ensure floor hygiene and maintain the aesthetic effect of your carpet as a design element.

5. Girloon Carpet Flooring Also for House Dust Mite Allergy Sufferers
According to our knowledge, there are no scientific findings or studies that attribute the occurrence of allergies to the presence of a carpet. With regular care and proper cleaning by a professional, the actual allergen, the excrement of house dust mites, can be very well removed from the carpet.
Since carpet flooring is the only floor covering that, due to its surface, is capable of binding house dust from the air, it is the most suitable covering for a house dust mite allergy sufferer.

6. Relief for the Musculature
From an orthopedic point of view, carpet flooring has the best properties among all floor coverings. The fiber layer adapts to every movement of the foot and ensures an even, joint-friendly distribution of body weight.

7. Reduced Risk of Accidents
Textile floor coverings are soft and elastic but not slippery. This results in high slip resistance, significantly reducing the risk of slipping. This advantage is particularly important for elderly people and on stairs.

8. Quality of Indoor Air
Carpets are tested by the “Community of Environmentally Friendly Carpet Flooring” (short GuT) and therefore belong to the qualities that score particularly well in the assessment of indoor air quality. We document this circumstance with voluntary self- and external monitoring and thus guarantee low-emission, environmentally friendly carpet flooring.

9. Installation and Replacement of the Covering
The installation of a carpet on a ready-to-lay subfloor is much faster and less costly than with many hard floor coverings. Removing a carpet is also usually associated with less effort and cost than with the “hard competitors.”

I don't think it's a bad idea at all, of course it also depends on how old your child is. If they are a bit older, then I would even do that and lay carpet.

I actually think it’s advantageous especially with small children. In our old apartment, we had laminate in the children’s room and I have to say, I didn’t find it very nice. The floor was hard – and small children do tend to fall easily. It was cold (well, now with underfloor heating that’s not a problem) and I found it uncomfortable. And it was slippery too, so my daughter (who also likes to walk around without shoes) kept slipping. Now, in the house, we have carpet laid both in the bedroom and in the children’s rooms (with two toddlers, 2 years and 1/2 year) and I wouldn’t want it any other way. Sure, there are sometimes stains, but mostly they come out without any problems. I can let the little one crawl without worries, without thinking she might hit her head (that’s pretty loud when she hits the laminate ) and it’s much cozier. And let’s be honest: In children’s rooms, no one leaves the carpet in for 10 or 15 years anyway. Eventually, the kids want something different, so it doesn’t have to be the most expensive. And if it gets too dirty or grubby, it just gets replaced.
