In the case of Marmoleum, you don't need adhesive with questionable emissions. It's basically click-linoleum, constructed similarly to laminate. So an HDF carrier board plus cork in this case as impact sound insulation, and then 3 mm linoleum on top. Except for the glue in the HDF, these are essentially harmless natural materials.

I had seen the Marmoleum at a colleague who has had it enthusiastically installed in the children's rooms for 3 years. In the end, however, we went with rubber flooring with an adhesive that mainly consists of rubber latex (Auros universal adhesive no. 380) and natural substances. By the way, installed continuously in the basement.

An advantage of the click system is also that you can easily replace it again, if necessary only spot-wise in case of damage.

Are there not yet any adhesives with questionable emissions? Because I am also considering gluing down linoleum flooring, but then you need a good adhesive (blauer Engel)?

The advantage of glued flooring is 1) better for underfloor heating and 2) it is supposed to feel better to walk on than floating installation.

Blue Angel is actually just the bare minimum; Greenguard certification or the Canadian FloorScore certification should be used instead. The latter, however, is only really relevant for manufacturers who also produce for export. I had extensively researched adhesives back then and if I were to glue linoleum, I would probably have chosen the Auro floor adhesive 382.

We have now received a few samples of Forbo Linoleum (Modular). There's definitely a difference in texture compared to a design floor and it has a bit of that classic gymnasium / linoleum smell. Do you think it warps quickly?

Linoleum:
+ basically more eco-friendly
+ durable
- design limited
- as expensive as a good design floor

That's why we are now leaning more towards Wineo 1000.

Actually, linoleum would be a very interesting floor for underfloor heating and children's rooms. Strange that hardly anyone does it, unfortunately we don't know anyone in our circle of acquaintances.
We actually wanted to possibly have Linoleum Modular installed glued down, but haven't found a floor installer in the area who does that. The Forbo dealer didn't want to reveal any installers because of the risk that the installer would buy elsewhere....
It seems to be done little for private homes here, more in commercial areas (doctor's office, kindergarten, ...).

I have a sample of Forbo Impressa here that I really like. I can definitely imagine it. What also puts me off is the installation (doing it myself?) and the price. Also, if you install it glued down, it’s something permanent. Not that I want to change my floor every 5 years, but things do occasionally get damaged. I’m now wondering if we shouldn’t just lay cheap laminate and then, when the kids are older and more reliable, redo it. Then maybe solid wood planks.
