Assessing yourself correctly in this matter is the greatest art. We have such experts 8 houses down the street. They bought an existing house, wanted to renovate and extend it, and had/planned to really do everything themselves. They started last year in spring and wanted to move in this summer. Currently, they are laying bricks on the upper floor walls... and the shell construction is still the smaller part.
We have also undertaken quite a lot of the interior work ourselves. On paper, it didn’t sound like much, yet I have been spending every free minute on the house construction for a year now. I am also a professional, and have carpenters and electricians in our circle of friends/family...
So just my advice: assess yourselves very critically and then multiply the time by 3.
Thank you. I can relate to that. That is exactly what holds me back a bit despite my father’s enthusiasm. The crucial point is how much you actually save. How much is it worth to you to spend every free minute on the construction site... I am very curious about appointments with solid house manufacturers..
A question to everyone: If the earliest possible time for contract signing is next year in autumn, from when does it make sense to sit down with solid house manufacturers and obtain offers? Is it too early now?
So far, Southwest House and Helma are on our list. We like a house from Weberhaus 99.999%, but they don't build stone on stone..
