Hello everyone,
today we just planned our new Ikea kitchen and couldn’t fully answer one question.
It’s about the corner base cabinet FA 157 with the pull-out fittings.
Although there are already some posts about this cabinet, I couldn’t find an answer and hope you can somehow help me.
For the Faktum corner base cabinet with pull-out (FA 157), the IKEA colleague mentioned 2 minimum clearances that we “have to” maintain:
1. The distance of the FA 157 to the adjoining cabinet (in the corner) should be 5 cm
2. The distance of the FA 157 to the wall (short side of the Faktum in the corner) should be 10 cm.
(1.) I can understand – so that the door of the next cabinet can open (although 1-2 cm should also suffice).
(2.) I can’t understand because the pull-out frame can be extended even when the FA157 door is not fully opened.
These 10 cm “away from the wall” cause me two problems that I can’t solve:
a. with the wall cabinets: hanging corner cabinet above the FA157 60 cm wall cabinet = 10 cm shorter than the FA157 “10 cm wall clearance.” The Ikea colleague recommended a filler strip between the hanging corner cabinet and the next wall cabinet. Not a really great solution.
b. the adjoining cabinets (in the picture to the right) I would also have to pull 10 cm away from the wall or insert another filler strip so that the look in the corner matches (not white). Also not really great.
What should I make of these 10 cm? What are they good for and don’t they basically make a corner solution “unusable”?
It would be great if you could help me here or have an idea to somehow fix this “little problem.”
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Marcel
