Wall construction using Neopor blocks? Who has experience?

Hello,

I recently came across the Wolf-Thermo modules, where the walls are assembled from prefabricated Neopor blocks and poured with concrete.

The values seem really top when it comes to U-value and sound insulation rating:

Does anyone have experience with such systems or can say something about the advantages and disadvantages? Is this a real alternative to a normal wall construction made of Poroton + [WDVS]?

Regards, barcardi

Polystyrene, well... you just have the typical problems again: flame retardants, woodpecker, breathing (?)

You usually have about 5 cm of Neopor inside and then, at the spot where heavy things are supposed to hang, you first have to screw in a beam and cut out the Neopor beforehand. Otherwise, I didn't find this "Lego house" thing bad at all, we also initially wanted to build that way, but then it became an old building. However, you should make sure that the floor slab is also insulated. Back then, we had found a company that praised the insulation value of this construction method but reacted pettily when asked why the floor slab was not insulated at all. That stopped us from building with them, because if they already snap at potential customers at the outset, they surely won't be friendlier during the process. With the information available today, I would rather build with thick Ytong and avoid WDVS if possible. It just causes too many problems (no, not mold or "wall breathing" <--- nonsense! but other issues, like: facing bricks on WDVS or better cracks in the plaster? How do you hang heavy objects on the outside, like beams for a roof cover? I know there are long screws for that, but that's not the ideal solution. Better a stable building material outside and inside that also insulates properly). Besides, you hardly have thermal bridges. We tore out the exterior wall in a room in the basement (it was non-load-bearing) and replaced it with Ytong, and I like that quite a lot.

Hello, I built like this with Wolf thermomodules and would build the same way again. Every construction method has advantages and disadvantages, everyone has to decide for themselves. My house can be visited at any time. Best regards Marco

Hello,
I built with a "kit" made of Neopor. And that with a kit from Izodom Germany. I am very satisfied. The shell was finished in 1 week, the house was turnkey in 5 weeks. And at a good price. It is a Passive House Plus (or rather a bungalow). With a photovoltaic system and solar hot water as well as ventilation. 170 sqm including land for € 200,000 (however without a basement, because I don't need one). House alone € 160,000. I assembled the elements myself (instructions are included) and the electrical work (just had it approved by the master electrician). I am super satisfied and I will no longer need gas or oil in the future and even sell electricity.
To hang things (inside and outside): You just have to use longer screws and drill/screw directly into the concrete. But a single screw can hold about 150 kg!
