But Berlin was apparently always different in the GDR as well. I haven't met anyone who spoke well of it here.

Sure, in the end, you just don't feel like it anymore, that happened to me too. But what I still don't understand... why do some manufacturers get crystal clear images via WLAN, while others only get static...

Guess: Maybe it's not just about quality, but also that Wi-Fi might fail more often than LAN?

In the hotel, there might be 3-4 meters and a drywall between you and the next access point. In the average Otto-normal house, the router is somewhere in the middle of the place, in the cupboard or even in the basement, and the topic of access points is usually not an issue. Add a metal front door and a thick wall, and the complaining is loud. THEN there is a problem because people just assume they have Wi-Fi. If you are sure beforehand that you will have sufficiently good Wi-Fi coverage outside (!), buy Wi-Fi doorbells.

Yes... then you can’t tell your postman to leave the package in the trash bin.
What worse could happen? These days, Wi-Fi networks can be quite well protected with a good password and MAC filtering.
A hacker would have to suspect pure gold in your house to bother cracking a 100-digit password and tricking a MAC filter. Won’t happen, unless you’re a CEO or engineer at KWM or Rheinmetall.

I hope you didn’t neglect passive security (security windows, for example) and now want to “compensate” for that with cameras...

I don’t know “average Joe.” Here, the HAR is located facing the street, usually right next to the hallway, and the front door is plastic.

But I also don’t see where it was asked what conditions are present for him. It immediately says, “Forget Wi-Fi, do LAN, tear everything up again if necessary, blah blah...”
And in the hotel, an access point every 3-4 meters? You don’t get around much, do you?

Thanks! It took a while, but now we're in the final stretch.

I tried to outline the history.
At the time when this could have been easily clarified, we were not yet at the point of knowing what was all possible (I still am not quite sure even today). However, when the electrician was asked about it during the house walkthrough for planning purposes, he made no effort to explain alternatives to us. So I thought, WLAN will work anyway (probably something can be found if necessary). And now, when the installation will soon be necessary and I actually have time to inform myself, I realize that back then we should have had LAN installed. And that frustrates me.
But I still don’t quite understand what the architect should do there or what this has to do with his professional liability insurance? Would he really have been the actual contact person for that? And opening up the wall sounds more like a drastic measure...
I will first try to get the details about the empty conduit from the electrician.

Oh dear, go to proper hotels and look up at the ceiling in the hallway (if those things are even openly installed at all). I don’t need to argue with you about my mostly business-related travel activity :)

The core of the statement was: If there is good WLAN, it can work well. But there’s a reason for the saying "those who know wireless, choose cable".

Nothing at all. If architects and electricians aren’t interested and you had no clue or don’t have any, that’s just how it is. No one made a liability-worthy mistake here.
