Then that's good! There are cases where it's done differently...

The "double" insulation is not that uncommon. In houses with Unilin roofs, the entire roof space is insulated. As someone already mentioned, this has the advantage that it is always above 10°C in winter and does not turn into a sauna in summer. For additional insulation effects, you can of course also insulate the ceiling between the upper floor and the roof space, which you can still noticeably feel in terms of temperature without a thermometer. At 0° outside temperature and about 20° in the upper floor, it is around 13° under the roof, so there is definitely an insulation effect, which a simple gypsum board would not have, but still "warm" enough to store clothes etc. in the roof space... Therefore, as some say that this would be nonsense, I cannot agree. For ventilation, we have small openings with flaps at the very top at the ridge, allowing a bit of draft...

As a graduate engineer, one should actually understand something like this best

Back to the topic... Sorry for the late response on how it continued, the attic is also ventilated via Controlled Residential Ventilation, there were some connection ports available at the distribution box anyway, one of which I am now using... It is definitely more pleasant up there now...

It seems that some of those who posted have a system in the attic. Does anyone have it standing on the wooden ceiling or hanging on the wooden wall? If so, what are your experiences with the noise development?

Our attic is the same. The ceiling to the upper floor is made of concrete + insulation and the roof is insulated up to the top + drywall. The controlled residential ventilation is also located up there. We solved the ventilation problem as follows: the attic is connected to the controlled residential ventilation -> ventilation is therefore ensured when the controlled residential ventilation is running. If the controlled residential ventilation is not running, a window automatically opens when a certain humidity level is reached.

Hello,

I came across this post and would like to know your experiences.

I now want to insulate the collar beam layer in my new building with 240mm 035 Isover, and do this directly between the rafters up to the ridge.

I also plan to place the controlled residential ventilation unit up in the attic.

1. Did you route the pipes without insulation in the collar beam layer to the side and then onto the floor covering to the distributors?

2. Have you had problems with mold?

3. For supply and exhaust air through the roof, how much distance should there be?

4. Did you include the attic in the calculation or just ventilate it with the smallest vent setting?

5. How did you attach the vapor barrier?
