That will depend on the verdict.
At least suspending the payment would be amusing for the municipalities...

It's okay to dissolve old privileges. Old buildings are indeed considerably better off than new ones. It's fine to take that into account as a factor, but it can't be that an old villa on a park plot costs 500€ and a new 3-room apartment 1000€.

As far as I’m concerned, I’m also happy with wealth instead of property tax. But as long as we don’t have the former, I wouldn’t eliminate the latter. But “reasonable allowances > 1 million euros”?? I think the perspective here is completely wrong. Someone with a recorded wealth under 1 million actually owns significantly more than most ...

You have no idea how large large fortunes are. And also that someone who owns a single-family house and a bit of retirement savings can easily be a millionaire. But why should such a person pay wealth tax?

People like to talk about the top 10%. What is omitted is that you can differentiate much further and then find significantly (even huge) differences in wealth and income (top %, top per mille).

Eight billionaires own as much wealth as the poorer half of the world's population. (Oxfam). The poorer half is more than 3 billion people. Against eight.

And I think you have no idea how privileged you are.
But fine, we don't have to argue about that. I just think anyone who can afford 'land and property' on top of that is capable enough to pay property tax/wealth tax. You see the threshold much higher.

I don't think so
Just because many others are really poor bastards, I don't consider myself wealthy just because I own a house.
Why should wealth be oriented to the lower "classes"?
It's the same argument as saying because someone is much worse off than me, I'm great. No, he's just much worse off, that doesn't make me good by any means.

Besides, an increased property tax (which would affect owners of multi-family houses) would immediately be passed on to the poor tenants who are barely scraping by. That hits exactly those hard whom you actually want to relieve.

You can certainly squeeze those who have more than a million in cash lying around. Although honestly, I also find that unfair. I get punished for having earned the bills with a lot of effort and brains. But well. Welfare state.
