I see it similarly to Nordlys. The chemistry between the general contractor/tradesmen must be right, regular inspections with common sense and possibly some acquired knowledge. For the rest, an independent expert is then available. Everything that still goes wrong then has to do with bad luck.

But even with us, there were (fortunately few) problems that I pointed out. In other cases, I saw the site manager reprimand the tradesmen.
It also often has a lot to do with the motivation of the individual trades. Are there tradesmen working who practice their profession with passion, or are they some temporary workers who mindlessly carry out the assigned tasks without thinking for themselves? As the client, you also have some influence by treating the tradesmen as equals, in a friendly and fair manner.

Cake, sweets, and coffee often help too... ;)

Architects including construction management, who have known their regional trades for years. It runs smoothly and the willingness to make corrections is high.

had forgotten regional. It already helps if the different trades also work together on other construction sites. Regardless of which general contractor. With us, everyone knew everyone.

Yes, I see it that way too. You have to make sure that you still get comparative offers and not always go directly to the architect's best buddy. That way, you can limit cronyism. Usually, the building owner trades cause trouble, whether through their own work or because the brother-in-law is an electrician... the truth is, most don’t know if the brother-in-law, father-in-law, or buddy is good at the job. You like the people and they talk positively about themselves, and it’s always the others who are stupid... we also fell for this with a (less important) trade.

You were lucky that a construction stop on the exterior plaster didn’t really matter much .....

Even today I often don’t know what I could have done better, some trades I could still wring their necks ....

With us, it was exactly those who always worked together badly because A didn’t want to upset B, you meet again at the next construction site, but you only meet the builder once.

Yes, but the willingness to take on the trades is very low ... what does the construction manager do if he burns bridges with the trade at the current building site for the next house he wants to build?

Better an architect who doesn't care at all who he works with
