OK – I always imagine the rotary hammer as primarily used with a chisel for demolition work or similar (there you can see the layman in craftsmanship again). If it is also good for "normal" holes, then the rotary hammer is fine.

Otherwise, one should possibly consider the starting situation of the OP. He is moving into a terraced house and has (sorry if I put it that way) a towel-sized lot. That’s why he is asking about the basic equipment. It simply depends on what kind of work will come up. I can imagine that a lot is already finished when moving in. In addition, he may not have a huge amount of space. Even for me, tools pile up in the utility room and storage room. Since I keep needing them again and again lately, I don’t want to put them up in the attic. Therefore, in his place, I would only buy a lot as needed.

Otherwise, I also add a rubber mallet. Good for paving/laying slabs but also for building wooden houses (garden house) with tongue and groove.

I also have my own workshop (separate Werkstatt). Over the years, I have gradually acquired branded tools. You can dispose of the initial equipment from the hardware store's beginner kits after the first screw. I can recommend Stahlwille, Knipex, and Wera.

Yep, that’s exactly what I meant. And don’t worry, "towel garden" fits perfectly. It’s about 60 sqm, just a terraced house. And you’re absolutely right, we have to be careful not to accumulate too much "stuff." No basement, one garage for the car, so there’s not much storage space. Actually only half the attic, the rest is the parents’ sleeping area. Therefore, better to buy a little too little and then expand little by little or also borrow sometimes.

I’ve definitely taken many tips with me, thanks for that!

I regularly use the cordless screwdriver (Makita) despite the house being finished and, like the toolbox, keep it within reach in the utility room. For the somewhat heavier drilling jobs, I have a Bosch hammer drill. I once had these two items given to me as birthday presents. Circular saw, jigsaw, orbital sander, table saw, etc., are mostly no-name products and probably not absolutely necessary. Otherwise, I have a colorful mix of tools in a large toolbox and another toolbox full of screws and dowel assortments, which have gradually accumulated over time. I find the mobile option better than small hanging shelves over the workbench. That way, you don’t always have to look for everything when you’re acting as a moving helper somewhere.

Does it actually have to be installed immediately because of so many tools?

I also vote for cordless screwdrivers. Even when just assembling small furniture, they offer a big time advantage. I have a small Metabo with 10.8V, which is light and gentle on the hands; it also drilled 10cm long holes in wood for the climbing frame with a 10mm auger bit for me, or small holes through plaster/stone. Only concrete doesn’t work without the hammer function.
