Yeah. Also a kind of "eco" approach: if the rainforest tree has now become a window frame, then preserving it also makes sense.

In 1979, people did not worry about ecology yet. And keeping something is always better than discarding it and getting a new one.

Oh dear, since I’m just an office worker and I am craft-wise occupied with wallpapers and floors (non-tiles), I start to ponder. Interestingly, the somewhat older generation says that the energetic can-topics can rather be neglected (you never show that). However, here people tend to agree more in the opposite direction. OK, anyway very helpful, thanks. Roughly estimating with her what the renovations as a craftsman’s service would roughly cost and how much one can save with maximum own effort? Although I like to walk around in overalls sometimes, but prefer without, there could actually be an appointment with my conscience. Especially since the fun actually ends with the vacation. OK, the renovation phase would of course be the exception.

Oh, and maybe one more question, how much do I save on additional or energy costs per month? Will it be a hundred in the best case?

No one can tell you the price who doesn't go through it with you and look on site. Energy, yes, if a window has to be replaced, you do it energetically properly right away. If knee walls are uninsulated... well, our office building with around 400 sqm needed 9000 liters of oil before, 6000 after upgrading with triple glazing, sealing tape, perlite in air layer. With tax 25 plus 2500 [Energieberater]. Karsten

How much energy you will save simply no one can say. If you previously lived in an apartment, it will be more expensive than now. Household contents and building insurance will also be more expensive.

So I paid 13k€ for electrics. Almost 50/50 split between materials and labor. But I didn't do a single stroke of work myself. Just told them where to put sockets etc. A total of 90 pieces. I also had network and satellite installed.

For a bathroom and a guest toilet including completely new water and sewage pipes I paid 19k€. Plus tiles, plastering walls, leveling the floor. But also expensive bathroom furniture.

For the roof I can only say about 2000€ for materials. What it costs to have it done is questionable.
You can get the cellar ceiling done for about 1200€ with your own work and PUR as insulation.

Windows are still a massive price driver. But you can also have them replaced later when you live inside. It doesn’t make much dirt. Even less when exchanging glass. But my predecessor described very well and in detail what to look out for. The carpenter knows best.

What the core insulation costs I cannot answer reliably. But it can also be done later.

Where I personally really misjudged was the floor.
There was carpet everywhere. Afterwards I had to sand everything and level it. That was expensive, exhausting, and took time. Now there is design floor PVC exposed. The result is good.

Also removing wallpaper, filling and re-wallpapering consumes a lot of time. Here a friend was almost busy for a week removing it. Despite experience.
But that was probably the worst case.

All in all, it went without big surprises for me. That was lucky.

Still, please first go in with an expert.
Imagine the roof truss has a woodworm infestation. Then it's all over and you have to pay around 50 thousand because it might be at risk of collapsing.
