The closed sides make the space behind them dark because there is no light coming in there. Everything is shut off there. I suspect the south and west sides? Since rain usually falls at an angle due to the west wind, this part probably won't keep the furniture underneath dry either. Our new Terra roof still lacks the western side panel. About 80cm of the recessed tiles are wet... When I extend the light-colored awning in the south, it immediately gets darker inside...

The roof takes away your option for proper sun protection. You cannot put a table with chairs underneath; you need about 1.50m on both sides of the table, so a total depth of about 4m.

Best regards

What would be a good alternative here? Do you have any ideas?

It concerns the south and west side, as already mentioned by ypg.

Perhaps no roofing around the corner? Only work with an awning at the corner?

On the south side, maybe pour 2.5 meters out as a roof?

2.5 meters is simply far too little. A covering should be 4 meters deep so that you have at least some shade and can also sit properly underneath with a table + chairs, and these items are also protected from rain.

Then work with elements or slats or sails.

We currently have an aluminum roof on our rental apartment, which is also made of glass on top, but it heats up extremely strongly underneath... It could also be that the material here is poor. What are the experiences here? I think that wouldn’t happen to me with a roof.

But of course, the roof probably doesn’t make sense, since all the windows would actually be covered and it would simply be too dark in winter.

My girlfriend doesn’t like the "concreted" look, especially if it has a depth of around 4 meters... That just makes the city villa seem too bulky.

Maybe a roof with a depth of 3-4 meters on the south side and just an awning that can be extended on the west side?
