The terrace has an almost perfect south orientation. The terrace roof would be open to the south with a slight slope to the east. The later in the evening, the more shade there is in the shelter. So unfortunately not quite perfect for autumn evenings. We will first use the plastic parts. If in a few years we notice that this is not so great, we can always switch from the system to the one from the carport roof seamlessly. (which would then be opaque).

We have VSG, so far the rain cleans it sufficiently. You will certainly have to clean it yourself once a year.

Does anyone know the coating described below, brand, etc.???

Depending on the budget, there are possibly glass solutions where dirt does not adhere.
I recently saw a report about the Elbphilharmonie; the glass is coated in such a way that it does not need to be cleaned for 10 years.
A small side note: Due to the long construction phase, the coating has to be renewed shortly after the opening.

Hello,
this was and is called "Lotusbeschichtung" by some manufacturers, but everyone calls it differently. This exists in the ceramic sector, facade sector, glass sector... our real glass shower enclosure also has this coating, it is from Sprinz.

real glass is of course not exactly light. the whole structure therefore has to be designed much more robustly. besides, glass is quite expensive compared to plastic, even when purchased directly from the glazier or similar. and something like a lotus effect or similar will cost you a lot again. in the end, everyone has to decide for themselves. we have transparent now and i think next time i'd go for opaque. the sun usually shines from the side anyway, and when it really shines from above, shade is generally better anyway. the cleaning effort is significantly lower. you just have to make sure not to cover too many large windows with it.

I have this little remedy for the shower partition. I was talked into it at a trade fair. We applied it on the outside of our floor-to-ceiling window (not openable) in the bathroom while the scaffolding was still up. Now it is the only window without tons of construction dust. But it doesn't last 10 years.

BTW: we are planning a cold winter garden 5x3.5m with VSG. Since the roof is walkable, it should be easy to clean. I just don't like the look of these multiwall sheets.
