What is more expensive? Masonry or windows?

That surprises me and I can’t understand it. [...] Let’s see how many windows our house will eventually have.

Of course you can’t understand it if you relate it to the number or total size of the windows. But I was referring to the total price allocated to the window trade. And even those customers who otherwise know that the difference between Graceland and Peter Kaiser is not only in the price are happy to choose PVC for the windows.

The post is quite old, but with Heinz von Heiden, floor-to-ceiling windows would have been cheaper for us than half-windows of the same width. Argument: Masonry would be more expensive, blah blah. We accepted it because we don't want floor-to-ceiling windows, but it was cheeky.

The expensive part is the fall or the fact that you have to measure and cut the stones. You have that with floor-to-ceiling windows just like with half-height windows.

Also, a floor-to-ceiling window with a height of 2m is not twice as expensive as a 1m high window. Yes, the glass costs more. But the machine doesn’t really care whether it glues 2m² of glass or 1m² of glass into the frame.

And in the end, Heinz von Heiden probably gets a big discount on certain windows as a major customer, which is why customers are forced with surcharge threats to take these if possible.
