hi

now that it has been clarified that we are allowed to add a terrace roof directly to the carport, the question remains whether to use light panels or the carport metal sheet (with anti-rattle, anti-condensation, etc.).

advantage of light panels: bright, friendly
disadvantage of light panels: no sun protection

advantage of metal sheet: sun protection in the hot summer, easier to maintain roof since dirt is not visible
disadvantage of light panels: darker in the room behind (not so bad for us), significantly cooler in autumn than with light panels (less warmth from light)

when you look online, it's almost only available with transparent roofing. the question for me remains how easy it is to keep such a roof clean. if after the first rain you always see stains, that’s certainly not right for me. what do you have, any recommendations?

When I see how the glass canopy at acquaintances' places already "gets soaked" during the construction phase before moving in, I would not put a glass roof over the terrace. That is why we decided on a tiled (pitched) canopy. I know my laziness too well to want to clean it regularly. It might look great for 3 months, then it annoys you for another 3 months until the laziness overcomes you and you get the ladder to clean it. So, in my opinion, it depends on how much the dirt bothers you to see... as you yourself say, with a non-transparent roof the dirt is just as there... it just doesn't bother you. Depending on the budget, there might be glass solutions where dirt does not stick. I recently saw a documentary about the Elbphilharmonie; the glass is coated in such a way that it does not need to be cleaned for 10 years. Small side note: due to the long construction phase, the coating had to be renewed shortly after the opening.

I can tell you^^ my neighbors around 75 in the super penthouse apartment with the conservatory are on the glass roof every few weeks scrubbing it with a mop I think

I hope we never have an emergency call---

We had an entrance canopy made with solid brick tiles instead of glass. I am torn... easy to maintain yes, but unfortunately also noticeably darker (not so dramatic, but noticeable)
