I like this visually at first glance, thank you for the picture!

I just noticed that your terrace is almost level with the room floor. Aren't there regulations that the height difference between the terrace and the room floor must be at least 15 cm or at least 5 cm if there is an appropriate water drainage system on the terrace?

What are your experiences regarding tripping? Do you have children? Do they trip over the threshold? Would a mat fit inside the door so that the door can be opened properly?

Do you perhaps also have a picture? And could you please also answer my questions from #7?

Well, it can't get much lower with "normal

Tripping is now a thing of the past. We have three children (7,7,2) who can run in and out wonderfully there. It was different in the old house.
Don't ask me now what the regulations are about the height difference. I don't know anyone here who chose 5 cm (it also looks silly) - either a proper step or directly adjacent. We don't have the drainage issue with the wooden terrace anyway, as it is "water-permeable" due to the installation. To the ground, it's about 20 cm, which ensures proper drainage. However, with paving, a drainage channel should be installed.

Hello,

we also had our sliding door to the terrace made with a low threshold.

Our terrace is then connected to the terrace at the same level via a slightly sloping window sill.

Our threshold is about 1.5 cm high.

Since we had a threshold of about 15 cm in our previous apartment, we are more than thrilled about the comfort gain of the low threshold - now we can actually walk out normally without having to watch out for any tripping hazards.

Regards,

Dirk

The window installer who fitted the doors and windows in the extension at my parents' house said that if you install a door with a low threshold, there is no warranty that water will not enter from outside during heavy rain.
