Well, I’d say visually it makes sense like that. I stick to the view that the widths are okay. However, the window door on the seating area side could also be made as a fixed element. An alternative arrangement would be to move the sliding door – then with a different sliding direction and changed to 323 cm width – to the dining area side and have the two narrower elements on the seating area side follow (also one fixed).

We have a wall opening of approximately 2.50m in width. We now have a fixed part and a door. We told the window installer to make the door as wide as possible within structural limits, since it is triple glazing. The door with frame ended up being just under 1.2m. He also fitted the fixed part with a profile frame so that it visually matches the door.

Do I understand correctly: the door remained just below a 50/50 width division? - doesn’t that look a bit odd?

correct
it even looks somewhat symmetrical from the outside, but I would also find it okay if the fixed part were half a meter larger, which, in turn, would be standard for large living room windows with a patio door.
