Terrace door is not the same as a window, right?

And does he also build the front door as a trip hazard? Certainly not.

Our patio doors are also floor-to-ceiling windows. We didn't know exactly where we would step out onto the terrace, so we have the "standard" everywhere. Of course, annoying in hindsight but something that can be addressed as part of a modernization in a few decades or when mobility becomes an issue. I think you can tell the difference by the fact that you can tilt windows but not doors? Our threshold is about 0.5 cm inside and about 6 cm outside. Exit onto a granite slab.

The patio doors with a flat threshold can also all be tilted.

For us, they are all patio DOORS, whether single or double-leaf. And they are all the same everywhere with the same frame width and base and can also be tilted.

For flat doors, mushroom dowels are not possible. Due to the lower tightness against rain, we have decided against the flat threshold. I have never stumbled over our higher threshold.

Yes, I can only encourage you to do that. That makes you wiser than us. We had floor-to-ceiling windows installed almost throughout the entire ground floor at considerable extra cost so that we could step out onto the surrounding terrace/garden from every room without any elevation. For us laypeople, "floor-to-ceiling" meant "as low as the floor"... wrong and one of our biggest mistakes. Our floor-to-ceiling patio doors are now about 6-7 centimeters above the floor. :-(

I know I am repeating myself on this topic, but I want to warn as many new homeowners as possible about our mistake.

How high is your "higher" threshold? Thanks. :)
