I do not have an offer yet, it has been requested. About €1000, I think. We will not get around the cable connection, since I need a broadband connection for work. My company allows 3 Mbit for 2 weeks and then home office is over... The question is therefore not cable or Telekom but: Does it make sense to have the classic phone line installed additionally? For me, I only see €799 costs without any benefit for the future.

You also get a phone via cable.
In my opinion, a Telekom connection doesn’t make sense here.

Acquaintances of ours are currently building in a development area without cable and DSL. Fiber optic only. Why should you pay for an additional connection that you don't even use?

Well, at most as an alternative option. If Telekom takes 20 weeks to install a new connection, you can't just switch like that when you need to.
It is definitely convenient (assuming appropriate contract terms) to be able to switch providers from one month to the next.
How is it actually possible that electricity, gas, and telephone/DSL are liberalized, but there are regional monopolies in cable?

But I am also facing the decision. In the area where my BV is, DSL is only available up to 16 MBit/s. Cable is quite normal though. Unfortunately no fiber optic (not even as a planned expansion).
Therefore, I will definitely go with cable. Whether I also take Telekom along, I don't know yet.
Does anyone know if the fiber optic expansion possibly does not require a new house connection fee if you already have a classic telephone/DSL connection? So, is Telekom somehow lenient if you are already a customer and basically just want to upgrade?

Best regards

I think that must be paid for additionally. After all, additional cables are also being installed.

Regulatorily, they don't exist at all, it's just that in many areas no one competes with the buyer, the respective federal post broadcasting cable state company. However, that doesn't really matter to you as a customer, since it practically makes no difference whether you mix internet over television cable or television over the internet. An additional twisted pair (or a splitter) for that little landline phone is no longer needed on any route.

I even switch several times a day with a single keystroke; on my internet access from KD I still have four telephone account providers – with the fourth, I can even dial out using the submission number of the second.
