Tall cabinet/decorative panel IKEA oven, tips for installing the decorative panel

:confused: Hello everyone,

we are currently assembling our new Metod kitchen. We are having problems with a tall cabinet (60x59x220) for oven/microwave. The tall cabinet is hanging on the wall rails.

We have screwed a decorative panel to the side panel of the cabinet carcass. At the back, we attached the decorative panel flush with the carcass. But at the front, the decorative panel protrudes 2.5 cm beyond the carcass. The door we want to install at the bottom is not 2.5 cm thick. The carcass side is 59 cm wide and the decorative panel is 61.5 cm wide. That does not fit together. The manual does not say by how many cm the decorative panel should protrude. How can we adjust the decorative panel?

Hello, the cabinet should have a distance of 1 cm from the wall. If the top surface goes all the way to the wall, it protrudes 1.5 cm at the front, which is about the thickness of a front.

Hello, I understand it like this: Because the cabinet hangs on a wall rail, I then have to cut out a recess in the decorative panel at the spot where the wall rail is. Then the decorative panel lies directly against the wall and the door fits.

I would rather shorten the rail than saw a recess into the cheek - it probably doesn't look that good even with careful work.

I also have a question about that: You can either mount the base and wall cabinets using a wall rail or, as was done previously with Faktum, screw them directly to the wall. I understand that when screwing directly to the wall, there is no gap between the cabinet body and the wall. Does that then mean that the top panel always sticks out too far at the front and you would actually have to shorten it? Best regards Section chief

with the carcasses you should indeed either leave out the top panel or shorten the rail, otherwise it will protrude too far and you might have problems opening the door. You can also mount the carcass without the wall rail, as you correctly recognized. Either directly to the wall like with Faktum, then the brackets have to be moved one hole forward and that makes the top panel too low. Or mount the wall bracket in the rear holes, just like if you want to hang it on the wall rail. Then you insert the supplied spacers into the brackets and mount the carcass to the wall. The top panels fit again and you don’t have to cut anything. It is also shown in the assembly instructions, you just have to browse a bit.
