Hello everyone,

actually, it was intended to do without smart home in the new building. I find it interesting, but I probably can't/won't want to afford it.
I have received a first offer from the electrician (just under 15k).
He would provide a separate switch for each roller shutter + light outlet. But since I want the blinds/roller shutter switches at the door and not at the window, I imagine it would look ugly if, for example, 5 switches are next to each other at the door in the dining/living room.
Now I have heard about switches that have multiple functions. For example, short touch = light on, swipe up = roller shutter up.
Is that automatically smart home and does it become extremely expensive?
Otherwise, we also wanted a motion detector in the upstairs hallway, two dimmable lamps in the dining/living room, and one access point per floor.
Is that possible without having to install smart home?
Are there alternatives for my case?

Thanks in advance

I have not yet found the famous Eierlegendewollmilchsau.
Just one group switch for several or even all [Rollläden] at the door and each window with the corresponding [Jalousieschalter] would also be an option.

If you are not too price-sensitive, there are great solutions. 5 switches can look really great, for example if they are from Gi Gambarelli, for example in the porcelain / stainless steel combination. Toggle switches can be placed closer together in a panel. It can look great, but then it is a custom-made product. And of course, you can also control the roller shutters via radio actuators in a sub-distribution, then there is at least one remote control lying around, which is quite inexpensive.

Hmm, I think if I place the individual switch next to the window, then I can also install manual straps.

It probably looks more like a minimal KNX installation, since the radio solution with remote control doesn't sound so great either.

You're right, it always looks inconsistent, especially in a new building. Many people have a vehicle in front of the door that can talk and park itself, but inside the four walls, you feel like you've been sent back in time when you see the electrical installation. No, that has absolutely nothing to do with a "smart home aka intelligent building." It's like a remote control for the TV. However, here you operate lights and shutters. But switches alone are not enough; these are usually proprietary solutions from manufacturers. In addition to the switches, you naturally also need the counterpart that is controlled by the switches. So, a sensor/actuator combination. You don't install a smart home. A smart home develops when you install sensors and actuators and then link them meaningfully together, giving the house eyes and ears and then teaching it what the house should and shouldn't do. So that it can react and act on the environment and the people. Many little boxes on the walls and plug adapters with a colorful app do not make a smart home by a long shot. Wireless has no place in a new building anyway.
