Yes, it will probably be something like that. But I am not looking here for experiences that I want to hear, but for normal, real experiences. I myself know many people who have made compromises on their original plans because of an inheritance (because it was much cheaper to take the inherited house) and nearly all of them regret it afterwards (compromises in location, size of the houses, layout, forced cohabitation with parents/in-laws due to their housing rights, etc.). And these are not acquaintance-of-an-acquaintance experiences but from the close circle of friends and even family. And that is exactly the trap we don’t want to fall into.

As I said, my girlfriend is now moving here to the countryside, 30km out. Then you really stand out in the sticks here. But they want it that way, it’s not because of the money. They could definitely afford a townhouse. Fortunately, houses there only cost about a third. But above all, they WANT it that way. I envy them a little bit for that. Sometimes we wished we could imagine that for ourselves too. Then we could buy a nice existing house in nature for 120,000 and renovate it nicely.

That's the point. If they want it like that, then those are no compromises. For you, the matter is already settled, or based on your statements, I would also advise you to stay in the city. Your consideration is purely financial structure; sooner or later, that will cause you a lot of frustration or cost a lot of money—if you then move back to the city after all.

What makes such a city location so attractive, do you then go shopping all the time? I think I lack the necessary money for that :).

Hello,

yes, we do. But only to ease our conscience. Net income adjusted for [PKV] €4,500 per month + bonuses

We have moved away from a single-family house with €450k and more to a condominium in a two-family house with a loan of €250k.

We are doing great! We have a much better standard than renting and can afford everything.

We got a plot very cheaply (about -30%), with the drawback of a road running through the entire residential area. It was worth it to us.
If we regret it, we can at worst sell the house with the plot again... The decision was simple based on these points.

We spent a very long and intense time considering whether we wanted to pay over 300k just for a plot of land (in a prime location). Basically, we thought the money for it was too much.

The decisive point IN FAVOR was: We can sell the house again at any time and most likely at an acceptable price. Try that in the countryside. Just 10 km further, plots here cost only 1/5 :)
