I have absolutely good experiences with POE. In my case, a dome camera from Dahua is installed in the porch roof, which is connected to the monitors of the door station (but can also be viewed via PC, mobile phone, etc.). I am very satisfied with it. Previously, I used UpCam, which was okay. In between, I tried various other cams and afterwards also an INSTAR 9020 Full HD in the garden. That was an absolute flop for me in every respect, but I missed the return deadline by one day and therefore kept it and have been annoyed about it ever since. I bought it because of the good reviews on the internet, but I can't explain where they come from. In any case, regardless of the camera model, POE is for me an absolutely well-functioning and very stable solution.

Thank you for the feedback!

I actually wanted to hang them in the corners of the house and then cover the areas no longer visible from the street. More for "deterrence" than for DHL/neighbor cats detection. We are getting a light well, where I can imagine that you could gain very undisturbed access to the house.

...and who should that deter? Similar effect or not surely has the sign with a big dog with a particularly angry look. And what result do you expect from a night recording? I would save the €500 and buy myself a nice grill for pleasant visits with friends, since in this price range you only get toys anyway. Ok, such a single case is annoying but all the security technology won't be able to solve that. As you are planning it here, it won’t happen anyway. Then take a stool and some sandwiches with you. Only in crime shows or before with Erik Ode did the crooks arrive predictably on time. And what do you want to photograph with your mobile phone... in the evening... he certainly won’t hold the firecracker in his hand for long :D I can’t get anything out of this by now almost hysterical camera stuff, because from my own experience I know that in the vast majority it brings zero benefit except a nice margin for the seller. Yes, there are exceptions and occasionally useful uses of such things but this sprinkler-like and mostly fear-based use of these devices will not bring us the desired peace in life. Children immediately adopt this fear of the parents, which significantly shapes their development. They begin to believe (because mom and dad say so) that outside it is daaaangerous. Since I lived in a country with such frightened citizens, I see what will come to us as well or is already here. Everywhere and always cameras, sirens, and wailing even though the number of incidents does not match. That was no fun AND as one has seen with adults but above all with many children with horror, it changes them in their nature, they keep looking up at the camera or avoid it. They know a camera is running and no longer behave so freely. Similar to how children who are photographed a hundred times daily nowadays somewhat lose their naturalness.

I can! Today I was allowed to watch a dashcam video where someone threw an egg at the windshield. The video lasted about 30 seconds and recorded how the egg white and yolk slowly ran down the glass... :D

Cameras do make sense, but only if they are part of an overall concept. Often they are installed just to have some "overview." As I have already written in some similar threads, there are more effective deterrents and protective measures. At 500€ per camera, you are no longer in the toy department.

We have over 30 cameras. The cheapest is in this price range. The most expensive is five-figure. But the whole thing is integrated into an overall concept. I have it because I am tech-savvy and not because it is "necessary."

What does such an overall concept look like – roughly described? Thanks for your efforts.
