I can already see: wild stories, no idea.
Many people are simply scared of the unknown device and would prefer to ban it.
OK, many don’t ride motorcycles and would prefer to ban those.
Keep in mind: Austrians are allowed to. And despite this flood of weapons (in Germany there is no shortage either, with about 4 million legal and about 6 million illegal weapons) some Austrians have managed to survive. Incredible!
Comparable to the dangerous motorcyclists (I also ride a high-powered BMW).
It would be good, when it comes to things one doesn’t know, not to shout for a ban but first to educate oneself.

leave that baby in the closet. Take a good pepper spray (in Germany the intention to carry counts, so you are afraid of dogs), you can use it against attackers without hesitation and it works.

There is hardly any group of drug addicts who would shout from 10 or 20 meters: Hey, we're coming closer now and want something from you!
What do you think would happen if every idiot here was allowed to carry a weapon in public?!

no problem:
1. The gas pistol is more of a keepsake; I don’t even know if it still works after 4 years? It’s more for the feeling in the car.
2. I also have pepper spray; we go hiking a lot around the village and some people let their dogs run surprisingly far ahead; thankfully, no use has ever been necessary and
3. Luckily we live deep in the sticks, I just imagined the story with the 3 junkies for big city dwellers. You really can feel sorry for them, with what sometimes goes on... terrible.

Politicians are allowed that. Although they come into contact with drugs more often. Unforgettable Mr. Özdemir, who proudly showed his drug plants on his balcony. Or Volker (Cristal Met) Beck. And especially among the Greens, apparently the loaded gun in the handbag is common. But they are the same anyway.

During my time in the army, I definitely had to shoot with a pistol; result: the shorter the distance, the better. Best hit rate for me: about 10 m; anything beyond that was rather disappointing. I only have a gas pistol now, I find it better than nothing at all. I can neither do Judo nor Karate. But everyone has to decide that for themselves. The fact is: cameras don’t offer any real protection.

Ok, so as expected no experience with tactical shooting. Naturally, you hit better at close range, especially with a handgun. But it’s about the time someone can cover the distance towards you until you even realize the situation. Then you still have to draw and be composed enough that a hit (because it’s nothing more) will at least roughly connect. Chance = 0 if you don’t do this weekly, and even then it most likely won’t be a vital hit. What you intend only works in fantasy at best. We could argue about that for hours... but what was the topic of this thread again?
