You just have to turn up the flow temperature of the underfloor heating and not brag after the heating season about how few kWh the heat pump "used". ;)

: When a non-smoker realizes that smoking is harmful, they have a valid point. This does not change even if this non-smoker is a cocaine user. Burning firewood only for the appearance can be called a form of waste by anyone regardless of their lifestyle – and from an objective point of view, this is correct. I don't find it so bad in this case.

A wood stove without a storage unit has a very steep heating curve and is a fast system. A floor heating system is a slow system. Running both systems in parallel requires some attention, which is why I wouldn't plan them separately, something that works perfectly in new constructions.

You're probably right too. But that's how it is with us. In this case, not ecological. But it was a conscious choice. We don't want to heat with the fireplace, and for the few days (I estimate 20) per year that we use it, it makes no sense for us to use it for heating as well.

One is of course also right about the ecological footprint.

For this one thing, as I said, we made a conscious decision, just like for a rainwater cistern and a photovoltaic system. It's a give and take. A job e-bike is also coming soon and car trips will be eliminated.

What energy standard are you building to? With KfW40, the room quickly becomes a sauna with a maximum stay time of 15 minutes. But one does everything to be able to have a regular and lifelong chat with the chimney sweep.

But it looks no different with KFW 55 or even the Energy Saving Ordinance.

Ecological sensibility means sustainability. The old building already has a footprint. Deepening this footprint by building a multi-family house makes no sense. Only if people who would otherwise all build single-family houses moved into the apartment block would it be justifiable. Simplifying complex issues and selling them here through rhetorical tricks, in my opinion, does not belong here.
