Stability of a prefab house - is there anything to consider?

Others see it differently. A prefabricated house is drywall construction. No cracks, no construction drying, etc. A prefabricated house sometimes has thinner walls, which gives space. A prefabricated house is NOT cheaper. Karsten

In the past, it would never have occurred to me to buy a prefabricated house. I also think that 30-40 years ago, the quality looked accordingly. After our stay in the USA, I did like the mobility, but the houses were/are a disaster.

During the current search, I wasn’t eager to buy a prefabricated house either, but I was convinced by everything about this house. The location, the great floor plan, made for us, and finally the price. In comparison, we would have had to pay up to 200,000.00 euros more. And honestly, prefabricated houses are not as durable as stone-on-stone construction and when you knock on the wall, you do notice the difference. But I haven’t seen any visitor yet, who came into a house and knocked on the wall :) And I believe this house will outlive us.....

The purpose of a prefabricated house is not clear to me.

Okay, the house is ready immediately, but a solid house only costs slightly more and you can watch the construction happen (exciting). Construction time is usually only 6 months as well.

There are so many other threads here where your question would fit. Namely, where the builder chooses a prefabricated house himself for certain reasons, or has it built. Or discusses it.

P.S. A prefabricated house is usually more expensive than a solid house in the single-family house sector...
