Many roads lead to Rome. A prefabricated garage on strip foundations will last longer than you will drive a car. Solid is always better. None of this is necessary. writes a former Juwel double garage owner in the old house, 18 years problem-free, now with a carport for [Womo] and [Cabrio]. The other boxes are tight and weatherproof, the tractor has a tarp.

Thank you.
However, a geologist has less to do with it. A soil survey was already conducted before the house construction...
As I said, I'm less concerned with the statics and more with the discussions around "frost-free foundation".

Today I had another conversation with the civil engineer, who brought up the foundations, laughed at me, and assured me that in this case it should be absolutely fine without the foundations.

So we'll stick with the floor slab on RC and that's that.

Have the garage also on RC material + base slab. It is founded frost-free. However, it can freeze at the edge area and thus exert forces on the base slab - if the gravel cushion is not extended a bit further out here as well. However, damage should not be expected, as, for example, with an attached studded membrane there is a buffer zone.

We will no longer be able to create a slope. Rather, the finished floor (on the floor slab) should be made with a leveling compound for garage floors (?). Layer thickness max 2 cm. Next week I will receive information material and further details will be discussed. But I want to gather some information beforehand:

1:
Walls are Poroton not plastered. What precautions should be taken here regarding sealing on the inside in the base area? Or is the vertical sealing applied only after plastering the walls?

2:
Should I leave a step at the gate as suggested by ? How would this be executed or how do I finish the floor accordingly (L-profile?) without already knowing the installation situation of the gate? Simply leave a generous setback between the edge of the finished floor and the gate?
