Hello everyone,
We had a carpenter install a sliding door between the kitchen and the living/dining room. The door was actually supposed to completely disappear into the wall, but now it sticks out about 10 cm beyond the frame. The reasoning from the installer was that otherwise you wouldn't be able to remove it from the slot, meaning that the handle recess always has to remain on the outside.
For that – or so I thought – there are small fold-out hooks or another milled handle recess on the end of the door leaf.
Unfortunately, we did not select the sliding door in detail; I thought it was clear and "standard" for such an interior door that it would completely disappear into the walls.
What do you think about this?
And would it be possible to retrofit such a hook/handle recess on the end side with reasonable effort? Unfortunately, the guide rail below is already screwed into the parquet; so, ugly drill holes would likely remain, as the rail would also have to be recessed into the wall.
Best regards
