Exactly, the long, narrow corridor bothered me a bit more. But I will try to draw your solution this evening. We had already thought about the possibility of access from the corridor, but I really don’t want to go through the bathroom to get to the bedrooms. (Especially since the toilet is also in the bathroom; toilet occupied --> no access to the bedroom) I also think that a pantry wouldn’t really be necessary, since we planned the kitchen that way (the cupboards to the left of the door are all ceiling-height storage cabinets, and to the left and right of the sink there is additional workspace hidden in the cupboard for kitchen machines, bread slicer, toaster, etc.). A small pantry somewhere would still be a dream of mine :) Thanks! Best regards

I saw it the same way: better to equip the bedroom with a door and design the dressing room as an open passage room. One could also consider swapping the bathroom and dressing room or at least think about it.

In the granny flat, I would place the living room at the back and the kitchen with dining area where the living room is now, so the dining area would be a passage room. Possibly I would do without a guest toilet.

But basically, I like the design. I would feel comfortable in both areas.

Casement windows are not really my thing :)

I think the idea of swapping the living room, [WZ], and the eat-in kitchen in the granny flat is a good one!

Sash windows are not really my thing either, especially together with the large, very modern window front in the living area. But that's a matter of taste and, as is well known, there's no arguing about that.

One more question: the dormer also has a large window front in the upper floor, but you said that the attic is supposed to be used as storage or a playroom/office. Is it planned to open up the ceiling to the living area? Or will this beautiful window front remain unused in the upper floor for now?

That would also be another possibility: to remove the ceiling to the upper floor in the living room (I can't judge how that is structurally) and possibly create a gallery (e.g., with bookshelves and a cozy place to read). I would find that AWESOME! Especially with the great window front.

The kitchen in the rear area was an explicit wish of my grandparents, as it is the room with the most sun and they spend the most time there. Also, this would make a possible separation of the living room as a room for a caregiver easier...

Regarding the attic, the idea is that the attic of the existing house is intended as a playroom/hobby room. In the area of the extension, the gable remains open in the front part (above the living room).

Regarding the gallery with the library, you speak for me! We had originally planned that the access to the attic would lead through the living room and a gallery, but unfortunately, this is not possible because the gallery area counts as usable space and we have already reached the maximum area of the extension allowed by building regulations.

As already mentioned, the exterior views are preliminary designs made independently by the planner. I don't like the glazing of the gable at all. In terms of style, we would prefer large loft windows with muntins combined with large fixed glazing. I have already seen a few pictures where this combination was used and hope that we can achieve this as well :) :)

I would also like it that way. However, I would then leave out the "beam" at the height of the non-existent floor here (without a mezzanine / gallery). And I would only create muntin divisions in this gable glazing, and all other windows without muntins. Otherwise, in my opinion, the house looks too "folkloristic."
