Hello,
thank you very much for your feedback. I'll try to respond to all of you:
@ kbt09:
Regarding the entrance solution, I have to agree with you, I also find it anything but ideal. Our architect said we could make the carport wider, then there would be more space in the carport, but you would still have to go through it, which bothers me quite a bit. I like the idea of placing the entrance on the north side. But in the current floor plan, I don't see any way to move the entrance to the north side without really redesigning everything. Our wish was to be able to enter the house without getting wet.
So, we need to work on that again.
True, the hallways are quite long. On the upper floor, that doesn't bother me, since we can definitely use the hallway. On the ground floor, a shorter hallway would certainly be better. However, I find the view very nice, looking diagonally from the hallway windows into the living room and being able to see the garden.
The it cost my husband and me the entire afternoon. Good thing we have vacation. The attached idea came out of it, but we had to repurpose half a meter from the dining room and it’s probably not a real island, since the pass-through is too narrow, but this is how we could imagine it. Although we want the door to the utility room to open outward, which the kitchen planner didn't allow. I would also like the kitchen to be on the garden side.
I could live with the children's room in the north due to the wide hallway. But I would like to have another window on the east side.
The dressing area doesn't actually bother us. We've been getting up and going to bed together every day for 12 years. I don't think that will change quickly, at least I hope not ;).
The staircase won’t work like that, we definitely have to change that.
Our architect has planned the space in front of the window for the elevator, so I assume for now that the window is not opposed to the elevator. If I ever need the elevator, I can then sit behind the windowpane and wave to the neighbors while going up ;). I will definitely ask the architect about the ceiling opening.
We don’t want the bedroom downstairs; we want a strict separation of the private area from the visitor area and it is important to us to have a utility room directly next to the kitchen or at least a pantry.
Thank you for your ideas.
@ BeHaElja:
We like it too, thank you.
Regarding the kitchen, circulation area, and entrance, I already wrote something above. We will definitely reconsider another window at the end of the hallway, let's see what the budget says. I am definitely not opposed to more storage space on the upper floor across from it.
To be honest, the floor plan you attached is not really ours. We have consciously decided against a bedroom and larger bathroom on the ground floor, even though that might be smarter, but we want as open a living-dining area as possible and a strict separation of “public” and private rooms.
Thanks to you too for your ideas and thoughts.
@ Nofret:
I fear a plan without any weak points will be difficult to realize, but we want to try to minimize the weak points or at least be consciously able to choose the weak points.
We will definitely try to realize the sliding doors.
For the terrace downstairs, we have planned an awning, maybe not immediately, but when there is some money left again ;) I think the idea of being able to convert the roof terrace into a winter garden is great. We will definitely discuss that with the architect. Thanks for the tip.
So far, we are rather couch potatoes, but who knows how a child will change us.
@ ypg:
We have consciously decided against the bedroom downstairs. Maybe not very rational, but it feels right to have a bedroom upstairs. And so we have a natural protective barrier against curious parents and parents-in-law; going upstairs is definitely more noticeable than just opening a door :D
So far, we are still healthy and lively. My walking distance hasn't been limited yet, and no one can say if this will ever happen; therefore, nothing is predictable, we are just trying to plan a bit ahead.
Regarding the kitchen and the dressing room, I already wrote something above, so to keep the post from getting even longer, I prefer not to repeat it here :)
Regarding the northern children's room, I actually lack experience. My husband and I both grew up in apartments with rather small children's rooms and therefore know it more like the entire living area was also used by us as children, not just the children's rooms. Do you have different experiences?
I also lack the expertise to check the costs. The estimate comes from our architect. Do you mean the walkable flat roof by the roof terrace? Because the rest of the roof is not to become walkable, only greened.
We will definitely discuss the entrance again.
@ everyone: Many thanks for looking at our floor plan and sharing your thoughts with us. We will definitely ask the architect to create a complete alternative design because I fear that if we try to change only a few details in the existing floor plan, it will no longer seem as coherent.
I wish everyone a nice evening!
