Which ones are those?
For example, the issue with the online requirement. Senec basically advertises that the storage system requires an internet connection. I can understand that, as you can also monitor your consumption data on the go with the app.
However, I was not aware that the storage system completely shuts down after 72 hours without an internet connection and is practically no longer usable, and this is not really clearly communicated by SENEC. If I have a problem with my internet provider and the internet is down for a week, the storage system stops working after 3 days. That simply cannot be.
The second issue is with the built-in batteries. Those who noticed this know that SENEC had, starting in March, due to some incidents, remotely deactivated all 80,000 storage systems for at least 9 weeks. Only then did I look more closely into the different types of batteries and would now rather choose a storage system with LiFePo batteries instead of the LiIon batteries built into SENEC systems.
I am not opposed to energy self-sufficiency. But you first need additional investments, have extra technology in the house, still ongoing costs (subscription), and overall you don’t know where the energy journey is heading, prices as well.
Maintenance/repair/possibly additional insurance…
Have you actually done the calculations for yourself? What costs do you currently have? What does the system cost and how much do you have to save every year for the system to pay off? Only in that way can you come to a conclusion.
My conclusion is definitely that I save money with the system.
A real cost calculation must then include/consider everything that is usually only possible after a few years.
Of course, no one can see into the future. But I do see now what I have already saved last year and try to extrapolate from that. The unknowns are, of course, the future costs for the power cloud in relation to another electricity tariff and of course any repair costs. If all batteries in the storage system suddenly fail after 4 years, my entire calculation is basically worthless. But those are the things you simply have to plan as risks.
Which costs, for example, are missing in my calculation?
